EF86 preamp pedals are rare as hen’s teeth. I know because I’ve been looking for one for quite some time, to get those lovely raunchy tones of early ’60s Vox AC15’s and AC10’s in a pedalboard-friendly format. Hehku Roaster fills that void. With two channels, 3-band EQ and treble and middle boost it’s not only easy to carry but very versatile as well – I can plug into a power amp, go straight into a cabinet simulator or simply use it as an overdrive pedal into a regular amp and get those familiar tube dynamics anywhere without lugging around heavy amplifiers.
